PolarPro has released CineFlow, a creative optical filter designed to introduce controlled motion patterns directly in camera for both photography and video. The filter uses a shaped glass element with a specific internal geometry to generate directional streaks across part of the frame, while leaving other areas relatively unaffected. The result is a mixed rendering in which motion-like blur appears in highlights or backgrounds without requiring slow shutter speeds or post-production effects.

CineFlow is intended to be used as a physical, rotational filter: by turning the filter within its mount, the direction and orientation of the streaking effect can be adjusted, allowing users to align the motion pattern with the composition. The adjustment is entirely manual, as the filter does not support motorized control or follow-focus attachment, and the effect is fixed by the optical design of the glass and does not change dynamically during recording.

The filter is constructed from coated optical glass housed in an aluminum alloy frame. It is offered in standard screw-in versions as well as a variant compatible with PolarPro’s Helix magnetic mounting system, which allows for quicker attachment and removal. Available sizes include 49mm, 67mm, 77mm, 82mm, 86mm, and 95mm, alongside the Helix option.

The American company positions CineFlow as an alternative to traditional motion blur techniques such as shutter dragging, which can be unpredictable or impractical in certain shooting conditions, especially for video. By separating the appearance of motion from shutter speed, the filter allows part of the image to remain sharp while introducing streaking elsewhere in the frame.
