1838-2019: Street Photography – A Photo For Every Year

In 1838 the first photograph of figures in the street was recorded by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre. And with it, street photography was born.

YouTuber Guy Jones created this 20-minute video that offers a brief history of street photography.
The video starts in 1838 because that’s when photography pioneer Louis Daguerre shot his famous photo of Boulevard du Temple in Paris, which is considered to be the first photo ever to show a human being.
The video provides viewers with a curated look at street photography from past generations, including images of New York City, London, Paris, Philadelphia, St. Louis, San Francisco, and other destinations.
According to a note on the video, all of the images have been remastered and color adjusted.
