3 Legged Thing Announces Patti 2.0 Tripod

3 Legged Thing has released an upgraded version of its Patti flip-lock tripod, bringing additional features and performance to the company’s best-selling general-purpose tripod.
Designed for beginners and photography students, the inexpensive tripod now includes a detachable monopod leg, an updated canopy and column lock, and refined leg locks with a new design.

“We are excited to update our flip-lock tripod to the new Patti 2.0 version,” says Stuart Boston, Chief Operating Officer, 3 Legged Thing. “Patti was already one of our best-selling tripods, and we’re sure retailers and customers will love these new features and refinements.”

The Patti 2.0 ships with an AirHed Mini tripod ballhead and an Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate. The tripod has four leg pieces that are extended and closed with ABS flip locks. The single-section center column is both removable and reversible. Furthermore, Patti 2.0 allows users to unscrew one of the tripod’s legs and attach it to the removable center column to form a full-height monopod.

The ABS flip locks feature a unique textured design that improves grip in a variety of circumstances. The redesigned canopy has a 1/4″-20 screw thread to accommodate auxiliary arms for lights and monitors.

The Patti 2.0 has a load capacity of ten pounds and weighs 1.7 kg. The tripod’s folded length is 45.5 centimeters, and its maximum height with the central column in place is 163 centimeters. Removing the column reduces the maximum height to slightly more than 133 cm. The tripod’s minimum working height is around 40 cm.

The tripod’s updated column lock now matches the other tripods in 3 Legged Things’ Punks 2.0 line, with circular rubber rings and knurling for better grip in damp circumstances. The Patti is the most economical tripod in the Punks line, which includes the Brian 2.0, Corey 2.0, Travis 2.0, and Billy 2.0, all named after well-known punk rock musicians. The Patti is named after the legendary Patti Smith, and the original Patti tripod was 3 Legged Thing’s first tripod named after a woman.

The Patti 2.0 tripod arrives less than a month after 3 Legged Thing unveiled the Lexie universal L-bracket, which is compatible with a wide range of cameras, both DSLR and mirrorless.

The Three-legged Things Patti 2.0 tripods are available in two colors: deep matte black and metallic blue, and include a carrying box, Toolz carabiner, hex key, and coin turn multitool. The Patti 2.0 is now available for $130, giving it a great value in the entry-level tripod category.
