DJI Annonunces the Mini 4 Pro Drone

DJI unveiled the Mini 4 Pro, the latest model in its Mini family of sub-250g tiny and foldable drones. The Mini 4 Pro is the first in the series to have omnidirectional obstacle detection and avoidance, as well as Waypoints. It also has True Vertical Shooting, which is ideal for platforms that utilise vertical video. With an appropriate battery, the DJI Mini 4 Pro can fly for up to 45 minutes on a single charge.

The Mini 4 Pro sports a single camera with a Type 1/1.3 CMOS sensor, dual native ISO, a 24mm (equiv.) lens, and a fixed F1.7 aperture. It has a 48MP sensor and a 3-axis gimbal that can tilt 60o upward. The camera has a cropping capability of up to 2X for images and up to 4X for video.
Video may be recorded in 10-bit D-Log M – DJI’s log profile that offers over 1 billion colors – at resolutions up to 4K/60p and 4K/100p for Slo-Mo pictures. There is also a Night Shots video mode that allows you to adjust the ISO to 12800.

The Mini 4 Pro has a number of unique features. The ability to capture 180°, Wide Angle, and Vertical panoramas, hyperlapse films, automated Quickshots (Dronie, Circle, Helix, Rocket, Boomerang, and Asteroid modes), and MasterShots are also featured.

FocusTrack, which lets you designate and monitor a subject, comes in three modes: Spotlight, Point of Interest, and ActiveTrack 360°. The Mini 4 Pro’s body is outfitted with six fisheye vision sensors for omnidirectional obstacle detection and avoidance on the front, top, and bottom of the aircraft. You can either brake in front of or around an obstacle.

The Mini 4 Pro is the first in the Mini series to include the Waypoints Flight feature. This function allows you to pre-plan and repeat flights. Cruise Control is also available, allowing you to automatically maintain a consistent speed and avoid potential flight weariness while filming.

DJI outfitted the Mini 4 Pro with their OcuSync 4 (O4) transmission system, which allows it can travel up to 20km (12.4 miles). While you may never fly that far, this allows you to transmit 1080p/60p FHD video while flying the drone. It can also fly for up to 45 minutes with the Intelligent Flight Plus battery and up to 34 minutes with the normal Intelligent Flight battery. Using the latter power supply raises the drone’s takeoff weight above 250g, negating some of the benefits of flying below that weight limit, such as not requiring registration.

A super-wide 100° FOV wide-angle lens and ND16/64/256 filter pair for the Mini 4 Pro are available separately. DJI also developed a 360o propeller guard set for complete physical protection.

The Mini 4 Pro with a DJI RC-N2 Remote Controller and one Intelligent Flight battery costs $749. The identical bundle, with the RC 2 Remote Controller, costs $959. The DJI Mini 4 Pro Fly More Combo costs $1,099 and includes the RC 2, three Intelligent Flight batteries, a two-way charging hub, and a carrying case, while the Fly More Combo Plus costs $1,159 and includes Intelligent Flight Plus batteries that run the drone for up to 45 minutes.
