Godox has announced the Lux Junior II, an updated version of its retro-styled compact on-camera flash. The new model retains the visual language of the original while introducing a substantially expanded feature set, most significantly TTL metering, a built-in rechargeable battery, wireless receiver capability, and a redesigned head mechanism.

The most structurally notable change is the dual-axis rotation system: the flash body rotates up to 180 degrees horizontally, while the head tilts upward to 90 degrees with multiple locking positions. This allows bounce flash in both horizontal and vertical camera orientations without repositioning — a limitation of the original Lux Junior, which offered no head articulation. For further light shaping, Godox includes a magnetic diffuser and two orange color filters in the box; additional magnetic filter kits are available separately.

The Lux Junior II adds TTL automatic exposure alongside manual and multi-flash modes, covering the needs of digital camera users who rely on the camera’s exposure system. For film photographers, an AUTO mode using a front-mounted metering sensor adjusts output automatically based on the ISO and aperture set on the camera. A 2.5mm sync port provides compatibility with film cameras equipped with PC sync connections, high-speed sync is supported up to 1/8,000s, and front and rear curtain synchronization are both available. Manual output is adjustable from full power to 1/128, with flash exposure compensation running from -3 to +3 EV. Flash durations range from 1/1,000 to 1/30,000s.

Power comes from an integrated 7.4V 700mAh lithium-ion cell charged via USB-C, rated for approximately 400 full-power flashes per charge at a recycle time of 1.5 seconds — an improvement over the AA battery arrangement of the original. A built-in 2.4GHz wireless receiver is compatible with the Godox X ecosystem, allowing the flash to be triggered remotely in multi-light setups. It functions only as a receiver and cannot transmit to other Godox units. The Sony-specific version, designated Lux Junior II S, adds support for global shutter synchronization on compatible cameras.
