Nikon Discontinues the SB-500 and Temporarily Suspends Orders for the SB-5000 Speedlight

Nikon Japan has announced that the SB-500 Speedlite will no longer be produced and that new orders for the SB-5000 Speedlite will be temporarily suspended due to parts shortages. The corporation previously had to cease SB-500 manufacturing on August 4, 2022, temporarily but has chosen not to resume it due to an uncertain future supply of parts.  Nikon apologizes to any customers waiting for additional supplies of the tiny strobe.

Nikon will temporarily suspend orders for the SB-5000, which appears to be on a similar path.

“Due to a delay in the supply of parts for the Speedlite SB-5000, it will take some time to deliver the product to customers. I have decided to stop. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers,” Nikon says.

The company aims to monitor the situation and will make subsequent comments as soon as it determines whether or not manufacturing can be resumed. If nothing changes, the SB-5000 will almost certainly suffer the same fate as the SB-500.
