Tilta Unveils the Left Side USB-C PD Handle

Tilta, a third-party accessory maker, has a wide choice of side handles that combine a secure grip for your camera with power or even storage solutions.
Following the release of a side storage handle for Sony cameras in September of last year, the company has returned with a hybrid grip/power attachment known as the Tilta Left Side USB-C PD Handle with Run/Stop Type VIII. Tilta’s new battery camera grip enhances ergonomics and houses a rechargeable 50Wh battery capable of delivering 60W power via a USB-C connection.

The handle weighs 480 grams and links to a camera rig through a NATO attachment adapter – but alternative mounting options are available.

Once mounted, it has an easy-to-use release lever that allows a camera operator to alter the angle of the grip to suit individual comfort or shooting requirements. The handle’s base has a 1/4″-20 thread with locating points and a magnetic fallen key for adjusting an M3 screw.

Tilta claims that its grip is made of high-quality metal and covered with a non-slip grip that has increased carry security due to the support for wrist straps.

When linked to a camera rig, the grip increases ergonomics while allowing for longer recording durations, thanks to a built-in Panasonic battery cell. According to Tilta, the high-performance battery operates between -4 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit and delivers 60W of power to any camera that can be attached to external power.

The top of the grip features a cable clamp tie-down to prevent the cable from being accidentally yanked out, a cold shoe receiver for attaching additional accessories, and two USB-C ports, one of which can deliver the necessary power for extending shoot times on connected cameras and the other for RUN/STOP control.

Pre-orders for the new Tilta Left Side USB-C PD Handle with Run/Stop Type VIII are now available on the manufacturer’s website. Although the official retail price is $199, the firm is presently providing a 10% discount until February 9th. The attachment should be available in February.
