Oberwerth Unveils a Leather Case for the Leica D-Lux 8
German company Oberwerth has announced an ever-ready case for the Leica D-Lux 8. The ever-ready format refers to a category of camera protectors designed to remain on the body during use rather than being removed and stowed when shooting begins. Cases of this type are custom-molded to specific camera models — as with Fujifilm’s own case for the X100 VI — since the fit must be precise enough to cover the body without interfering with controls or ports.
The Oberwerth case for the D-Lux 8 combines a removable half case at the base with full front protection. The front cover folds downward and remains attached to the case rather than being detached entirely, keeping it out of the field of view and away from the lens during shooting. For situations where the front cover is not needed at all, it can be fully removed via a press stud on the underside. Magnetic closures handle the opening and closing mechanism. The charging port, ports, controls, and microphone remain accessible while the case is in place.
The case is constructed from full-grain leather sourced from a tannery holding Gold status certification from the Leather Working Group, a standard relating to sustainable production practices and responsible resource use. Additional internal padding is included for transport protection.
The Oberwerth D-Lux 8 Everready case is available now at $399.
