Samyang Launches 14-24mm f/2.8 for L-Mount
LK Samyang has released the L-mount version of its AF 14-24mm f/2.8 lens, a collaboration with German optics brand Schneider-Kreuznach. The lens had previously been available exclusively for Sony E-mount since its announcement in April 2025, following a teaser at the CP+ show in Japan in February of that year.
Samyang’s expansion to L-mount has been notably slow, despite the South Korean company joining the L-Mount Alliance in 2023. Until now, its only L-mount offering was the AF 35-150mm f/2-2.8. Earlier in 2025, the company announced that its 60-180mm f/2.8 — another Schneider-Kreuznach collaboration — would come to both E-mount and L-mount, along with a commitment to port the remaining lenses in the series to L-mount. The 14-24mm f/2.8 is the first of the three Schneider-Kreuznach lenses to complete that transition.
The L-mount version retains the same optical construction as its E-mount counterpart: 15 elements in 11 groups, incorporating three aspherical elements, five high-refractive elements, and three ED elements. It features a nine-blade diaphragm, a minimum focusing distance of 0.18 meters, and a maximum magnification of 0.26x. Autofocus is driven by a linear stepping motor, described as fast and quiet. The lens also includes weather sealing, a customizable control button, and a manual/autofocus switch.
At 441 grams and 87mm in length, it is substantially smaller and lighter than the competing full-frame 14-24mm f/2.8 lenses for L-mount. The lens also accepts 77mm front-thread filters — a feature absent from both the Sigma and Leica equivalents, which rely on rear gel filter solutions due to their protruding front elements.
With this release, Samyang’s L-mount catalog now includes two full-frame lenses. The AF 24-60mm f/2.8 has not yet been confirmed for L-mount, nor has the forthcoming 60-180mm f/2.8, though both were part of the company’s stated roadmap. The AF 14-24mm F2.8 for L-mount is available immediately, expected to retail at approximately $1,200, in line with the E-mount version’s pricing.
