SG-image has extended the AF 35mm f/2.2 to L-Mount, completing the lens’s availability across Sony E, Nikon Z, and Leica L systems. The lens was initially announced for Sony E and Nikon Z in March 2026.

SG-image is a Chinese lens manufacturer headquartered in Shenzhen that has expanded its catalog rapidly since its founding, growing from a handful of APS-C primes in 2024 to 22 lenses by mid-2026, spanning APS-C, full-frame, medium format, and cinema optics. The AF 35mm f/2.2 belongs to the company’s EZICARI series and is designed as a compact full-frame prime. The optical formula comprises seven elements in five groups, with a nine-blade aperture diaphragm covering f/2.2 to f/16. Minimum focusing distance is 35 centimeters, yielding a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7.7. The lens has a front front filter thread of 52mm and physically measures 36.2mm in length, 69mm in diameter, and weighs 163 grams — dimensions that justify the pancake description. The barrel is all-metal and there is no optical image stabilization; users must rely on in-body stabilization from the host camera.

The lens is available in three configurations: a standard black version, a silver version, and a Classical Edition that adopts a retro aesthetic with a knurled focus ring and polished silver accents on a black body. On APS-C bodies, the 35mm focal length produces a 52.5mm equivalent field of view. For L-Mount specifically, the lens sits in a market with few direct competitors at this price level and aperture combination — most competing 35mm options either use faster apertures at considerably higher prices, or are manual-focus only.
