Personal Geographies: Trent Davis Bailey ǀ Brian Adams showcases a curated collection of visuals from two artists engaged in exploring their identities and the significant locales in their lives through the medium of photography. The exhibition is partitioned into two distinct galleries, with one showcasing 32 photographic pieces by Trent Davis Bailey and the other featuring 19 works by Brian Adams.
Trent Davis Bailey, a photographer hailing from Colorado, delves into his personal narrative and the interplay between images and recollections. The series highlighted in Personal Geographies, titled The North Fork, draws inspiration from his childhood memories, intimate family farms, and the captivating landscapes of western Colorado. Brian Adams, an Iñupiaq photographer based in Anchorage, has embarked on journeys across Alaska and other regions, capturing images that celebrate the Arctic terrain while delicately conveying the stories, cultures, and perspectives of Inuit individuals and communities.

About the Authors

Trent Davis Bailey (b. 1985) is a photographer born and based in Colorado.
He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a 2019 Film Photo Award and the 2015 Snider Prize from the Museum of Contemporary Photography.
Bailey’s work has been shown widely in the US and abroad, and it has been the subject of exhibitions at the Denver Art Museum, Somerset House in London, Robert Koch Gallery in San Francisco, Encontros da Imagem in Portugal, and elsewhere.
His photographs have been regularly published in periodicals such as The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, The California Sunday Magazine, ProPublica, VICE, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and SSAW. His first monograph, The North Fork, was published by Trespasser in the fall of 2023.
Bailey holds an MFA from the California College of the Arts and a BFA and BA from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Brian Adams (b.1985) is an editorial and commercial photographer based in Anchorage, Alaska specializing in environmental portraiture. His work has been featured in both national and international publications, and his work documenting Alaskan Native villages has been showcased in galleries across the United States and Europe. His first book of photography, I AM ALASKAN, was published in October 2013 by University Of Alaska Press. His most recent book, I AM INUIT was published in December 2017 by Benteli. In 2018, he received a fellowship grant from The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation and the Rasmuson Foundation to continue his work on documenting Inuit life in Alaska and the circumpolar.
