7Artisans has introduced a 27mm f/2.8 STM autofocus lens for APS-C Sony E-mount cameras. 7Artisans only recently started producing autofocus-equipped lenses.

The 27mm focal length provides a standard lens-style field of view similar to a 40mm lens on a full-frame camera, so the new AF 27mm f/2.8 should be ideal for portrait, street, and travel photography.

The lens contains six elements grouped into five groups, and the aperture diaphragm has just six blades. The autofocus lens employs an STM motor to focus, and 7Artisans claims it is compatible with the eye-tracking and face-detection features found in contemporary Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras. The lens can focus as close as 0.3m.

Given its focal length and aperture combination, the prime lens is rather compact and light. It measures 48mm long and weighs about 172 grams, including the front and rear lens caps. The lens accommodates 52mm filters.
