OM Digital Solutions Releases Firmware Updates to Support M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5

OM Digital Solutions has updated the firmware on five OM System Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera models to enable the upcoming M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm F3.5 Macro IS PRO lens.

While the M.Zuiko 90mm F3.5 IS PRO lens is not yet available, the 180mm equivalent prime lens was introduced in a roadmap update last September. According to OM Digital Solution’s brief release, the lens will have a 2:1 magnification ratio (4x in 35mm equivalent terms) and will be dust and moisture-resistant to an IP53 classification.

These firmware upgrades will be available for the OM-D E-M1 Mark II (firmware version 3.7), E-M1 Mark III (firmware version 1.6), E-M5 Mark III (firmware version 1.7), E-M1X (firmware version 2.4), and OM-5 cameras (firmware version 1.1). According to OM Digital Solutions, the OM-1 should not require a firmware update as long as it runs firmware version 1.3, which was released on November 24, 2022.

The OM Workspace (previously Olympus Workspace) program provides firmware upgrades for these camera bodies. If you’re wondering how to update camera (and lens) firmware, OM Digital Solutions has a full guide on the OM Workspace website.
