Really Right Stuff Releases Core Line Carbon-Fiber Tripods
Really Right Stuff has introduced the Core Line, a new series of carbon-fiber tripods intended to sit below the company’s flagship support systems while retaining many of the design principles associated with its premium products. The launch includes two models, the Benchmark and Benchmark Inverted, representing the first tripods in the company’s catalog built around carbon-fiber tubes manufactured entirely in-house at its facility in Utah.
The new lineup was developed over several years with the objective of reducing production costs while maintaining the rigidity, durability, and serviceability expected from the brand’s higher-end tripods. According to the company, the Core Line is priced roughly 30 percent below comparable Mk2 models, making it the most accessible full-size tripod platform in the Really Right Stuff range.
Two distinct configurations are available: the standard Benchmark follows a conventional four-section design, while the Benchmark Inverted adopts a three-section layout with the twist locks positioned closer to the apex. This arrangement is intended to improve ergonomics and reduce exposure of the locking mechanisms to dirt, sand, water, and snow during outdoor use. Both tripods feature selectable leg angles, redesigned magnetic leg-angle tabs, dust-resistant twist locks, and a newly developed apex compatible with the company’s ball heads and accessory ecosystem.
The Benchmark weighs approximately 1.7 kilograms and extends to a maximum height of nearly 177 centimeters, while the lighter Benchmark Inverted weighs around 1.6 kilograms and reaches a maximum height of roughly 155 centimeters. Both models are designed for use with mirrorless and DSLR systems, including heavier telephoto lens setups, with an emphasis on stability for long-exposure photography and demanding outdoor environments.
The redesigned apex incorporates accessory mounting points and compatibility with multiple head configurations, including the company’s BH-series ball heads and the Anvil-30 system. The Core Line is also positioned as a modular platform that can be expanded with additional accessories over time, reflecting the broader ecosystem approach that has characterized Really Right Stuff products.
Pricing starts at $795 for the Benchmark Inverted and $945 for the standard Benchmark tripod. Bundles equipped with ball heads are also available, with complete kits ranging from approximately $1,150 to $1,360 depending on configuration.
