Sabrent Rocket CFexpress Type B Memory Cards

Sabrent has released a new set of CFexpress Type B cards that enhances the transfer speed and doubles the highest capacity of the previous cards. Sabrent’s new Rocket CFexpress Type B memory cards offer improved performance, endurance, and capacity. According to the company, they can achieve peak read and write rates of up to 1,800 MB/s and 1,700 MB/s, respectively, with sustained speeds of up to 1,300 MB/s. The cards are also available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 2TB. It should be noted that these cards do not appear to replace Sabrent’s prior CFexpress choices, which are slightly slower and do not have as large capacities, and are only distinguishable by color.

“Our Rocket CFX Type B memory cards utilize dual PCIe 3.0 lanes to reach speeds of up to 1,800 MB/s for reads and 1,700 MB/s for writes to give you the fastest transfer rates possible,” the company claims. “These Rocket CFX Type B memory cards operate with SSD-grade hardware for both the controller and the flash memory. This means high endurance thanks to quality hardware and powerful wear management features such as LDPC, ECC RAID, end-to-end data protection, SmartRefresh, wear-leveling, plus support for TRIM.”

These claims are not unusual and are very prevalent in the present CFexpress Type B memory card market. Still, Sabrent promises broad camera compatibility, which means photographers can expect the cards to operate regardless of which camera they use – this is in contrast to companies like Angelbird, which are very specific about which cards pair well with which cameras.

The new Sabrent CFexpress cards have a one-year warranty without registration and a three-year warranty with registration. The cards are presently available for pre-order from the company’s website (no shipping date has been specified) in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities for $270, $450, and $650, respectively.
