Schneider Kreuznach Unveils the Iscorama 54 Anamorphic Lens Adapter

Isco lenses are quite popular among Anamorphic enthusiasts. Putting them in front of a spherical lens enables you to shoot anamorphic for a fraction of a normal anamorphic camera lens. These lenses had been manufactured by ISCO Optik in Göttingen since the 1950s and were discontinued in 2001 due to declining demand. In 2008, the brand became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schneider-Kreuznach.

Now Schneider Kreuznach announced a new ISCO4all full-frame anamorphic package consisting of an anamorphic adapter in combination with three new spherical mini cine prime lenses with the help of the Chinese company DuLens.

“As a young company, we are proud to be able to work with Schneider-Kreuznach, one of the most renowned optical manufacturers and one that has been established for decades. We are honored that Schneider-Kreuznach has chosen our mini prime lens series to revive the ISCO brand,” says Mr. Yu Du, CEO of DuLens, about the cooperation with Schneider-Kreuznach.

Piet Thiele, Head of Business Unit Photo/Cine at Schneider-Kreuznach: “Providing filmmakers with equipment that enables them to tell their story the way they want is our passion. The collaboration between Schneider-Kreuznach and DuLens stands for combining tradition, modernity, and dynamism with one another and making use of contacts all over the world. The combination of our world-famous ISCORAMA together with ISCOspherical lenses, a variant of the mini prime lenses newly developed by DuLens, is the perfect moment to renew the ISCO brand. We look forward to providing filmmakers with ISCO4all, the lenses they are looking for.”

These lenses are available in 43mm, 58mm, and 85mm. All feature a t/2.4 aperture, full-frame coverage, and a PL mount. The spherical lenses have a 72mm thread while the ISCORAMA 54 CU has a 77mm one, but an included adapter will make attaching lenses to each other possible.

Schneider-Kreuznach already posted sample footage shot on a RED MONSTRO which shows promising image quality and sharpness:

There will be a sales version in 2022. Till then, they place the #ISCO4all set at selected rentals. In January 2022 the company will publish a list with the selected rentals.
