Sirui Announces the Venus 150mm T2.9 1.6x FF Anamorphic Lens

The Venus 150mm T2.9 1.6x full-frame anamorphic lens has just been released by SIRUI, a Chinese lens maker specializing in low-cost anamorphic and cine prime lenses. With the addition of the new 150mm lens, SIRUI’s Venus range of 1.6x full-frame anamorphic lenses (35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, and 150mm) appears complete. The Venus lens line is said to be created with matched color tones, consistent blue lens flares, oval bokeh, and other comparable traits to preserve uniformity. The gear locations and front 82mm filter thread are the same on all these lenses.

The 150mm telephoto anamorphic lens (equal to 94mm horizontally) may be excellent for portrait filming, but SIRUI also managed to reduce the minimum focus distance to 0.58m (other lenses in this range have a minimum focus distance of 1 meter). You don’t need extra lens adapters to get closer to your subject and take amazing close-ups.

This lens has a 2.4:1 aspect ratio when used with a 3:2 camera and a wider 2.8:1 aspect ratio when used with a 16:9 camera. A few monitor companies, including Atomos, CVW, Hollyland, and FEELWORLD, now support a 1.6x de-squeeze ratio. However, camera manufacturers are less likely to support this ratio, therefore, de-squeezing your image properly while recording is not always assured. One option to produce a 2x squeeze is to employ the company’s 1.25x anamorphic adaptor.

Sony E, Canon/RED RF, Nikon Z, and LEICA/Panasonic/SIGMA L-mount lens mounts are available. Last but not least, the lens weighs about 1385g and measures about 178mm in length.

The super early bird price for quick decision makers is set at $1,199 instead of $1,499 (limited quantity of 20 lenses).
