Viltrox AF 75mm f/1.2 Portrait Prime for Fujifilm X

With its brand-new Air Cutter AF 75mm f/1.2 lens for Fujifilm X-Mount, Viltrox targets high-end, professional photographers. According to the company, the new lens embodies years of deep cultivation of optical technology and incorporates Hoya’s proprietary nitrate material, which it imports from Japan.

“With an f/1.2 super large aperture, it also features advanced autofocus performance as well as professional handling and reliability,” Viltrox says. “The image quality has been improved in an all-round way, forging phenomenal clear picture quality and the ultimate beautiful virtual experience.”

The Viltrox AF 75mm f/1.2 comprises 16 elements grouped in 11 groups (including three ED low dispersion optics and four high refractive index lenses) and has an 11-bladed diaphragm with an aperture range of f/1.2 to f/16. The autofocus is driven by a screw-based STM technology and has a minimum focusing distance of 0.88 meters (approximately 34.6 inches). The focus is internal, and the front filter measures 77mm in diameter.

According to the manufacturer, the optical design promises to control chromatic aberration, and the dispersion correction is at APO level.

The autofocus mechanism that powers the lens is built on its latest algorithm. The motor is powerful enough to deliver fast, smooth, precise, and quiet performance – fast enough to enable eye autofocus, animal autofocus, and other recognition-based systems that a connected camera would entrust. Photographers may expect incredibly high resolving power with sharp reproduction and uniformity from edge to edge.

The aperture can be adjusted using the camera or the manual ring at the lens’s base. Future firmware updates are also supported by the lens, which has a USB-C connector on the lens mount.
