Godox Announces the V1Pro Flash

Godox has released an upgrade for one of its most popular flashes. The Godox V1Pro Flash has received a number of useful improvements, including the option to use a detachable sub-flash.

One of the most noteworthy changes with the new flash is the addition of the SU-1 Sub-Flash. This gadget mounts to the front of the V1Pro and serves as an additional fill light. The SU-1 has adjustable output from 1/1 to 1/128, with a +/- 3 EV range. It would be an excellent addition to photo sessions, when a second fill light would help balance the light on a subject.

The V1Pro also receives major power-related enhancements. It now has a VB30 rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can perform up to 100 full-power flashes in a single burst before shutting off for overheating protection. This is a huge increase over the V1’s 40 consecutive flashes. It also has a 1.5-second recycle time and can perform up to 500 full-power flashes on a single charge.

The V1Pro also has a new external power connector that allows it to be used with the PB960 PROPAC lithium-ion battery, resulting in faster recycling times and more flashes per charge. In addition, the VB30 battery has a USB-C connector, which allows customers to charge it without the need for special chargers. Aside from power and charging, a one-click TTL/M switch allows users to rapidly convert between manual and TTL modes.

Aside from those significant alterations, the V1Pro retains many of its features.

The new flash is available in variants for Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, and Sony. It is currently available for pre-order for $319, while no ship date is specified.
