Negative Supply Unveils the Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2

The Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2, a considerable improvement over the company’s initial Basic Film Carrier 35, has been unveiled by Negative Supply. With a starting price of $79, the Basic Film Carrier MK2 shares a lot of components and production techniques with Negative Supply’s Pro Film Carrier 35.

The Basic Film Carrier MK2, which supports all 35mm formats, including half frame, full frame (standard 35mm), and panoramic sizes in a single capture, aims to reshape the landscape of 35mm film scanning. Negative Supply claims that the Basic Film Carrier MK2 also comes with the same mask set as the Pro Film Carrier 35, making scanning the first and end frames on strips and rolls more effective.

The Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2 uses Negative Supply’s interchangeable film cassettes, just like the Pro Film Carrier 35 does. Negative Supply has so far released five film cassettes. Half, regular, and panoramic frames are supported by the regular Border 35mm Cassette, which includes the new carrier. The Full Border 35mm Cassette shows fuller borders and comes with replaceable masks for half, regular, and pano frames.

In place of a cassette from an earlier generation, the APS Film Scanning Cassette promises greater film flatness. Photographers using film can scan 110-format film with the 110 Film Scanning Cassette. Negative Supply has introduced the new 126 Film Scanning Cassette in response to client requests, enhancing the adaptability of its Pro Film Carrier 35 and the brand-new Basic Film Carrier MK2.

The Negative Supply Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2 is similar to its predecessor in that it enables photographers to scan film utilizing a carrier, stand, light, and digital camera. According to Negative Supply, “many contemporary digital cameras, from entry-level to professional, will allow you to make beautiful film scans with this device.”

Despite the substantial enhancements, the Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2 is being released at a lower price ($79) than its predecessor ($99). A typical border cassette comes with the Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2. Negative Supply is selling every extra cassette for $49 each.

A film scanning hood ($29), a stabilizing mask ($20), and the Light Source Mini ($249 total) are further add-ons. With a 97 CRI rating, the Light Source Mini ensures outstanding precision and consistency while scanning black-and-white and color film. Negative Supply’s 45 Light Source Basic is four stops less bright than the Basic Light Mini.
